With the increasing frailty of clients being discharged from hoospital, local trusts in Berkshire are refusing to assess people for mobility porblems, as they feel that when in a nursing home that the home should supply such equipment. This may be true to a degree for transport purposes within the home, but if they do not have a personal wheelchair it restricts their social interaction. I know that there was guidance from the DOH, which said that individuals in nursing homes should be afforded the same services as those in the community, but this does not seem to be happening in my area.

Any information that people could give me to force the local trusts to assess and provide wheelchairs would be gratefully received.
